John Davies (ice hockey player)
John Francis Davies (born July 14, 1928 in Edmonton , Alberta , † January 19, 2009 ) was a Canadian ice hockey player . At the 1952 Winter Olympics , he won the gold medal as a member of the Canadian national team.
Career
John Davies began his career as a hockey player in the Edmonton Junior Hockey League, in which he was active for one season each for the Edmonton Caps and Edmonton Southsides. From 1949 to 1952 he played for the Edmonton Mercurys , with whom he represented Canada at the 1950 World Cup and in 1952 at the Oslo Winter Olympics.
International
For Canada , Davies took part in the 1952 Winter Olympics in Oslo , where he won the gold medal with his team. In eight games he scored four goals and three assists. He had previously won the gold medal with his team at the 1950 World Cup .
