Oldřich Kučera

Oldřich Kučera (born July 1, 1914 in Prague , † January 2, 1964 in Gstaad ) was a Czechoslovak ice hockey player and coach who played in the Czechoslovak 1st league for LTC Prague, among others .

Career

Kučera was active for LTC Prague in the 1st Czechoslovak League during the 1930s . His palmarès includes at least the national championship titles in 1937 and 1938. With his strike partners Josef Maleček and Ladislav Troják Kučera formed a successful attack series, which was also in the national team of his home country together on the ice.

From 1947 to 1950 Kučera was active as a player-coach at SC Bern . The Czechoslovakian emigrated to Australia in 1950 before joining the senior team at SC Bern in 1962. In the 1963/64 season he was the head coach at EHC Olten behind the gang. During the same season, on January 2, 1964, Kučera died of heart failure in Gstaad . The striker had previously suffered a collapse on the ice during a game for the SC Bern senior team.

International

For Czechoslovakia , Kučera took part in the World Championships in 1933 , 1934 , 1935 , 1936 , 1937 , 1938 and 1939 . Kučera, who together with Josef Maleček and Ladislav Troják formed a dangerous attack formation in the national jersey, completed a total of 37 world championship games with 25 goals and two assists in the course of his career. In 1933 and 1938 he won bronze medals with Czechoslovakia in the world championships. In addition, the striker took part in the 1936 Winter Olympics, where he finished fourth with the Czechoslovak selection. Kučera contributed to this success with six goals in eight games.
