John Gilbert is a New Zealand film editor , film producer and screenwriter .

Life

John Gilbert began his film editing career in the late 1980s. He experienced his first career highlight with the literary adaptation Lord of the Rings - The Companions from 2001, for which he was nominated for an Oscar in 2002 and won a Satellite Award in 2001 . He won an Oscar in 2017 for his work on Hacksaw Ridge .

As a screenwriter, he was involved in two episodes of the television series The Lost Children in 2006 . From 1999 to 2006 he also worked as a producer, particularly of short films.
