John Hart (writer)
John Hart (born October 2, 1965 in Durham , North Carolina ) is an American detective writer .
Life
The son of a French teacher and a doctor, John Hart grew up on a large farm in Durham. He later moved to Rowan County , the literary template for the fictional "Raven County", the main setting for his first novels. He studied French literature at Davidson College . He then completed courses in finance and law, worked at a bank, then as a stockbroker, as a bartender in London and finally opened his own law firm. He gave this up in order to realize his dream and become a writer. His first novel The King of Lies (German: The King of Lies ) was published in 2006 and immediately became a sensational success. In the "Best First Novel" category, he was nominated by five major American crime writers' associations and magazines for the Edgar Award , the Anthony Award , the Barry Award , the Macavity Award and the Gumshoe Award . His second and third novels were also nominated and awarded for prestigious prizes.
John Hart lives in Rowan County, North Carolina with his wife and two daughters. In 2013 he received the North Carolina Award for services to literature.
