John Howard Kyan
John Howard Kyan (born November 27, 1774 in Dublin , † January 5, 1850 ) was an Irish inventor .
Life
His father, John Howard Kyan of Mount Howard and Ballymurtagh, owned several copper mines in Wicklow . When his father's company went bankrupt, he went to London and worked in a brewery on Old Street Road. In London, Kyan invented a process for the production of paper and wood preservatives (see kyanization ). The funds thus produced were for the protection of paper, canvas used canvas and Tauwerken for ships. The invention consists in soaking substances or products in water in which mercury deutochloride or corrosive mercury sublimate has previously been dissolved. Then the soaked substances and products are dried and washed off with hot or cold water.
