John Hull Campbell

John Hull Campbell (born October 10, 1800 in York , Pennsylvania , †  January 19, 1868 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania) was an American politician . Between 1845 and 1847 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Nothing is known about John Campbell's youth and schooling. After studying law and being admitted to the bar in 1823, he began to work in this profession in Philadelphia. He later embarked on a political career. In 1831 he was a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives .

In the congressional election of 1844 Campbell was elected as a candidate for the American Party in the third constituency of Pennsylvania to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , where he succeeded John T. Smith on March 4, 1845 . Since he renounced another candidacy in 1846, he could only complete one legislative period in Congress until March 3, 1847 . This was shaped by the events of the Mexican-American War .

After his time in the US House of Representatives, John Campbell practiced law again. He died in Philadelphia on January 19, 1868.
