John Kannankulam

John Kannankulam (born January 7, 1972 in Darmstadt ) is a German political scientist .

Life

From 1992 to 2000, Kannankulam completed a master’s degree in political science as a major, as well as American studies and modern German history as minor subjects at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main . This was followed by his doctorate with Joachim Hirsch and Bob Jessop with a thesis on authoritarian statism in the theory of the Marxist state theorist Nicos Poulantzas .

From October 2009, Kannankulam was a junior professor at the Philipps University of Marburg , where he has held the professorship for European integration and political economy since 2015 . In addition, he worked with Sonja Buckel and Jens Wissel on the research project The Transnationalization of the State in the Process of Developing a Common European Migration Control Policy.

Kannankulam is a member of the Education and Science Union and the Association for Critical Society Research . In his spare time he is the singer of the ska band Ska Trek, which has been active since 1990 .
