Jens Wissel

Jens Wissel (* 1968 ) is a German political scientist .

Life

Wissel studied political science as well as sociology and philosophy at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main . In 1998 he finished his studies with a diploma in political science. From 2002 to 2006 he worked as a research assistant at Frankfurt University. In 2006 Jens Wissel received his doctorate from Nicos Poulantzas under Joachim Hirsch , Bob Jessop and Alex Demirović on the topicality of state theory . In his dissertation, Wissel developed - in connection with Poulantza's concept of the inner bourgeoisie and the bloc in power - the idea of ​​the transnationalized power bloc and dealt with the transnationalization of class relations. As an empirical example to support his theses, Wissel cited the World Trade Organization . From 2007 to 2009, Wissel worked as a lecturer at the Universities of Marburg and Vienna, among others.

In the summer semester of 2012, Wissel took up a substitute professorship for international relations at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen .

From November 1, 2013, Wissel worked as a research assistant in the social sciences department at the University of Kassel until February 2015. Since October 1, 2017, he has been a professor with a focus on work at the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences .

Together with Sonja Buckel and John Kannankulam , Wissel researched the transnationalization of the state in the process of the emergence of a common European migration control policy .

Wissel is a member of the Association for Critical Society Research .
