John Lapli

Sir John Ini Lapli GCMG (* 1955 ) is an Anglican priest of the Church of the Province of Melanesia and a Solomon politician.

Life

Lapli studied at Selwyn College on Guadalcanal . Then he went to New Zealand to become a priest. He also attended St. John's Theological in Auckland . After serving as a parish priest in 1986 , he worked as a Bible translator from 1987 to 1988. Lapli began to be politically active and became prime minister of Temotu province . He held this office for 11 years until he was elected Governor General of the Solomon Islands. He held the office of Governor General from July 7, 1999 to July 7, 2004. Lapli was now active in the Solomon Islands Democratic Party founded by Gabriel Suri in October 2005 . He later replaced Suri as party president.

Lapli has been married since 1985. The marriage resulted in four children, three sons and one daughter.
