The John Lay Electronics AG , headquartered in Littau was a Swiss electronics - wholesaler and services company. On the one hand, it was the Swiss general agency for Panasonic products and, on the other hand, a service provider for business systems for audio , video and communication . The company employs around 200 people and in 2006 generated sales of 236 million Swiss francs. After exactly 50 years of building and maintaining the Swiss market for Panasonic, the Japanese electronics group unexpectedly withdrew the distribution rights from its Swiss general agent, John Lay Electronics AG, in March 2012.

The company comprises the Consumer Electronics , Business Systems and Service & Support divisions as well as the sister company John Lay Solutions AG owned by the two board members Manfred J. Lay and Kurt S. Lay .

The Consumer Electronics division is geared towards end-user markets and supplies the retail channels with home electronics for entertainment , photography , telecommunications and households .

The Business Systems division concentrates on the business-to-business market and sells devices, systems and services for telecommunications, audio / video, notebooks and video surveillance for professional use. In addition to the actual sales, various services in the area of ​​conception, evaluation, implementation and maintenance of customer-specific solutions are provided.

The service and support area includes its own service department with a corresponding spare parts store and specific product seminars.

history

The company was founded in 1942 by John Lay. He initially developed and produced shortwave transmitters and in the 1950s was involved in importing and selling the first television sets. In 1961, John Lay Electronics became the official Swiss general importer of the Panasonic brand. Today the company is owned by Manfred J. Lay and Kurt S. Lay.
