In 1971 the Göhner Group was sold to Elektrowatt , and EgoWerke became an independent subsidiary. In 1972, EgoWerke took over the second largest window manufacturer in Switzerland, Fenster Kiefer AG . These merged in 1976 to form EgoKiefer AG.

In 1987 the Uniwood Holding of the Erb Group took over EgoKiefer AG as an independent subsidiary. In 1993 the sales organization was expanded to southern Germany and Vorarlberg. The collapse of the Erb Group in 2003 resulted in another change of ownership. In April 2004, EgoKiefer AG was taken over by the Arbonia-Forster Group (AFG) and incorporated into the Windows and Doors division as a subsidiary.
