John Little (born September 24, 1984 in Peoria , Illinois ) is a retired American basketball player . Little played 285 games in the basketball league for Göttingen , Würzburg , Ludwigsburg , Frankfurt and Jena between 2008 and 2016 .
Career
John Little played for the Panthers college team in the NCAA first division while studying at the University of Northern Iowa at Cedar Falls . He then worked on the sports staff of the university team during his master’s degree . In 2008, coach John Patrick and his long-time teammate at the Panthers Ben Jacobson brought him to the German first division club BG Göttingen. As a result, the club, which was promoted to the first division in 2007, was able to establish itself in the league. In 2010, when a German club team won the EuroChallenge, it was only the third European Cup win . While Jacobson then left the club again, Little coach Patrick followed when he signed a contract with the first division promoted s.Oliver Baskets Würzburg in 2011.
In 2015, Little, known for his good defense work, signed a contract with the MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg, but joined the Skyliners Frankfurt a year later . In 2016 he won the FIBA Europe Cup with Frankfurt . After the end of the season, Little did not get a new contract in Frankfurt and joined Science City Jena, a newcomer to the BBL in October 2016 . The collaboration was ended after only six weeks, as they could not agree on a short-term follow-up contract.
In 2017 he became a member of the coaching staff of the University of Northern Iowa basketball team, returning to a previous place of work. Little took on the task of video player and opponent sighting on the staff. In 2019 he became assistant coach of the Wisconsin Herd , the NBA G-League team of the Milwaukee Bucks .
