John Maxwell, 1st Baron Farnham
John Maxwell, 1st Baron Farnham († August 6, 1759 ) was an Irish politician and peer .
His parents were Rev. Henry Maxwell, principal at Derrynoose, County Armagh , and Anne Stewart.
From 1725 to 1759 he was a prothonotary on the Court of Common Pleas of Ireland . In 1739 he was sheriff of County Cavan . From 1727 to 1756 he was a member of the Irish House of Commons for County Cavan. On May 6, 1756 he was raised in the Peerage of Ireland to Baron Farnham , of Farnham in the County of Cavan, and received a seat in the Irish House of Lords .
Since June 1719 he was married to Judith Barry (* 1699; † 1771). He had four children with her:
- Robert Maxwell, 1st Earl of Farnham , 2nd Baron Farnham († 1779)
- Barry Maxwell, 1st Earl of Farnham , 3rd Baron Farnham († 1800)
- Rt. Rev. Henry Maxwell († October 7, 1798), Bishop of Dromore and Meath
- Hon. Anne Maxwell ⚭ Owen Wynne
