Jon Minnis
Jon Minnis (* 1950 in Birmingham ) is a Canadian animator and screenwriter of British origin.
Life
Minnis was born in Birmingham, worked in various European cities after finishing school and finally moved to Canada in 1973. He lived in Prince George , British Columbia for four years and became a Canadian citizen in 1978. Minnis came in 1980 for a three-year animation course at Sheridan College in Oakville , which he graduated in 1983 with a Bachelor of Applied Arts. His short animation film Charade was created as a thesis during his studies. Previously, he had only created one-minute rehearsal animations.
Minnis completed Charade in 1983 within seven months, including three months of pure animation time, during an International Summer School of Animation at Sheridan College. He animated the film with Pantone pens alone . In 1985, Minnis received the Oscar for Best Animated Short Film for Charade .
After finishing his studies, Minnis was brought to Montreal by producer Michael Mills and worked in his company, Michael Mills Productions, among other things as a commercial filmmaker. Since then he has been involved in various roles in television films and series.
