John Perry (bishop)

John Freeman Perry (born June 15, 1935 ) was a Bishop of the Anglican Church .

life and career

Perry was taught at Mill Hill Schools and St John's College in Nottingham .

After being called to the Curate of the Christian Church in Woking , he was appointed Vicar in Chorleywood and then Rural Dean in Rickmansworth .

Perry was Bishop of Southampton from 1989 to 1996 and then Bishop of Chelmsford until 2003. As such he was from 2000 to 2003 as a spiritual lord member of the House of Lords .
