John Duncan Snedden (born February 3, 1942 in Bonnybridge , Scotland ) is a retired Scottish football player .

Player career

Defensive player John Snedden was signed by the Bonnybridge Star Juniors in 1958 on the part of Arsenal FC . With the "Gunners" he played 83 competitive games from 1959 to the 1964/65 season. He didn't score a goal. For example, Tommy Docherty was one of his teammates . In March 1965 he was signed for a transfer fee of £ 11,000 from the second division club Charlton Athletic and played 20 league games in the seasons 1964/65 and 1965/66. A few weeks in the run-up to the 1966 World Cup , he completed a trial training with coach Tschik Čajkovski at Bayern Munich , but was not signed by Bayern. Together with Cliff Holton , he moved in exchange for Harry Gregory in July 1966 in the Third Division for FC Orient . 27 league games and three goals are played for him in this engagement. About Halifax Town , where he was used on loan from November 1967 five times (no goal) in the Fourth Division , his career path finally led in February 1968 to South Africa . In 1968 he played there for Addington and Port Elizabeth City . For the 1969/70 season, Snedden, who was plagued by numerous injuries in the course of his career, joined the sports fans Siegen . After a groin operation, he played three games for the club from Siegen, but injured again.

Coaching

After his career he worked as a trainer at TuS Kaan-Marienborn and TuS Wilnsdorf.

Private

Snedden has been married to his wife Ingrid from Salchendorf in the Siegerland since December 7, 1964 . After Snedden's career, the couple, who have two sons, first settled in Wilgersdorf and later in Allendorf in the Lahn-Dill district. Today (as of 2014) it lives in the Siegerland community of Burbach .
