John Stearns
John Stearns (* 1770 , † 1848 in New York City ) was an American doctor.
Live and act
John Stearns, whose father was a doctor, received his training at Yale College , followed by an internship with a country doctor, and finally medical school at the College of Physicians of Philadelphia . In 1793 he settled as a doctor in Waterford (New York).
With two colleagues, he founded an association to combat Kurpfuschertum. In 1806, 20 regional associations were formed and in 1807 a state association, of which Stearns was secretary for the first seven years. Later (1819-1821) he was elected President of this state association. For four years (1810-1813) he was in the Parliament of the State in Albany sent. He then moved his practice to New York City .
