John William Harshberger

John William Harshberger (born January 1, 1869 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania , † April 27, 1929 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) was an American botanist and mycologist . Its official botanical author abbreviation is " Harshb. ".

Harshberger studied at the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard University . In 1893 he received his Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania. PhD.

From 1911 he was professor of botany at the University of Pennsylvania. He also worked at the Marine Biological Laboratory in Cold Spring Harbor from 1913 to 1922 and at the Nantucket Maria Mitchell Association in 1914/15.

In 1906 he was elected a member of the American Philosophical Society .
