from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

John William Lloyd (* 1857 in New Jersey ; † 1940 ) was an American anarchist and advocate of individualistic anarchism .

His philosophy was based on individualism and natural law . He was close friends with Benjamin Tucker , from whose ethical egoism he later differentiated himself. In 1897 he founded an anarchist group, The Comradeship of Free Socialists , for which his work The Red Heart in a White World: A Suggestive Manual of Free Society; Containing a Method and a Hope formed the basis.

In the First World War he supported the Allies. In 1922 he moved to California and supported Edward Bellamy's ideas from the 1930s onwards , but remained lifelong connected to his former colleagues and friends. He wrote many books and hundreds of poems that were published in anarchist magazines. Furthermore, Lloyd was a staunch advocate of Karezza and published a book on this subject.
