John Frederic Wurster (born January 12, 1948 in Schenectady , New York ) is a former American speed skater .

Wurster was able to win the junior title at the national championships in 1963. It was only 13 years later, in 1976, that he won his next US senior title. In between, he took part in the 1968 Winter Olympics in Grenoble , France, and reached fifth place over 500 meters. In his second Olympic participation in 1972 in Sapporo , Japan , he did not finish the same route.

Wurster graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Masters of Business Administration . After finishing his active career, he worked in a company that specialized in the marketing of new environmental technologies .

His brother Richard Wurster is also a speed skater and competed in the 1968 Winter Olympics.
