West Allis (with the status " City ") is the second largest city in Milwaukee County in the US -amerikanischen State Wisconsin . In 2010 West Allis had 60,411 residents.

The name of the city ​​of West Allis, part of the Milwaukee metropolitan area, goes back to Edward P. Allis , who founded the Allis-Chalmers Manufacturing Company in the 19th century. The settlement was built west of the factory.

The original settlement on the site of today's West Allis was named Honey Creek . When the Chicago and North Western Railway built a railway line from Madison to Chicago in 1880, it named its station North Greenfield . In 1887 the village was officially named North Greenfield . After Allis-Chalmers had built a factory here in 1901, the place was renamed West Allis in 1902 . In 1906 it was appointed town.
