Oak Creek is located in southeastern Wisconsin on Oak Creek , a tributary of Lake Michigan .

The airline Midwest Airlines had previously based in Oak Creek. In January 2010, Republic Airways Holdings , the parent company of Midwest Airlines, announced that Midwest Airlines' headquarters and administration would be relocated to Indianapolis .
Mining equipment manufacturer Bucyrus International announced in June 2010 that the company's headquarters are moving from its former headquarters in South Milwaukee to the former Midwest Airlines building.
Oak Creek has a coal and natural gas powered thermal power plant.

Attack on Sikh temples
On August 5, 2012, 7 people were killed in an attack on a Sikh temple. Among the dead is the assassin, who was shot by a police officer. That and 2 other people were seriously injured. The attacker wore a 9/11 tattoo and was allegedly known as a neo-Nazi. The police suspect a terrorist background and that the attack may have been mistaken for Muslims.
