The place was originally called Buckhorn Settlement . Around 1800, the entrepreneur Patrick Cudahy built a meat factory on an area of ​​280 hectares and the place was renamed Cudahy . In 1895 the place was incorporated as the Village of Cudahy and in 1906 it was elevated to the status of "City".
