Shorewood is a municipality (with the status " Village ") in Milwaukee County in the US -amerikanischen State Wisconsin . In 2010 Shorewood had 13,162 residents, the number of which increased to 13,337 by 2013.
The Shorewood parish is part of the Milwaukee metropolitan area .

Shorewood is located in southeast Wisconsin in the northeast suburb area of the city of Milwaukee . The community is bounded by Lake Michigan to the east and the Milwaukee River to the west.
The geographical coordinates of Shorewood are 43 ° 05'21 "north latitude and 87 ° 53'15" west longitude. The municipality extends over an area of 4.12 km².
Milwaukee city center is 6.6 km to the southeast. Whitefish Bay borders the parish in the north, while the urban area of Milwaukee surrounds the place from all other points of the compass on the land side.

history
In 1832 the area of today's parish was ceded to the US government by the Indians of the Menominee tribe . This was followed by settlement with European immigrants who founded several localities. The population grew rapidly, so that in 1900 the village of East Milwaukee was incorporated as an independent municipality. In 1917 the parish was renamed Shorewood .
