Johnny Cooper

Johnny Cooper (born September 11, 1988 in Phoenix , Arizona ) is an American country and rock musician who belongs to the genre of Oklahoma-native Red Dirt music.

Life

Johnny Cooper was born on September 11, 1988 in Phoenix, Arizona to a choreographer and nightclub owner. In 1992 the family moved to Texas , where he spent much of his childhood in Wichita Falls . At a young age he played drums and later learned to play guitar. He has been performing regularly since he was 16.

In 2004 he opened - while still at school - a performance by the established Red Dirt band The Great Divide . Together with the members of the band AA Bottom, he founded the Johnny Cooper Band , consisting of Jason Brown, Cody Shaw and Randy Burch. With this line-up he also recorded his first album Live at the Pub , which was first released in 2005 and was named the best live CD of the year at the 2006 Oklahoma Music Awards.

The following year he made his studio debut Ignition , which was produced by Mike McClure . In May 2007 it was re-released by the Smith Music Group ; four of the songs also reached number 1 on the Texas Music Charts. In total, Ignition has been sold around 25,000 times.

His second studio album Follow , with which he first entered the official charts of Billboard Magazine , followed in 2009. In 2011 he released his second live album Live at the Pub II , which reached number 63 on the Billboard country charts. In the summer of 2013, the EP Red Sessions was released , which contained five new titles.
