Johnny Hindmarsh
John Stuart Hindmarsh (born November 25, 1907 , † September 6, 1938 ) was an English racing car driver and aviator.
Career
Johnny Hindmarsh received military training in Great Britain after attending primary schools . He was a graduate of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and then served from 1928 as an officer in the Royal Tank Regiment . In 1930 he trained as a pilot with the Royal Air Force .
Hindmarsh was a passionate amateur racing driver who spent many free weekends at the various racetracks. His greatest success in motorsport was the overall victory - his team partner was Luis Fontés - at the 1935 Le Mans 24-hour race .
Johnny Hindmarsh had a fatal accident in September 1938, just under 31 years old, during a test flight with a Hawker Hurricane over the Brooklands racetrack .
