Tim Rose-Richards

Thomas Essery "Tim" Rose-Richards (born June 6, 1902 in Mayals , Glamorgan , † October 7, 1940 near Anvil Point ) was a Welsh racing driver and naval aviator in the Royal Navy during World War II .

Career

Tim Rose-Richards competed in monoposto and sports car races between 1929 and 1935 . In 1935 he finished third in the Voiturette class at the Eifel race on the Nürburgring on a works ERA . A year before that, he finished fourth in the Dieppe Grand Prix.

He achieved great success in sports car racing. Three times in a row, in 1931 , 1932 and 1933 , he secured third place overall at the 24 Hours of Le Mans . At the RAC Tourist Trophy 1933 , behind Tazio Nuvolari and Hugh Caulfield Hamilton, he was also third.

After winning the Brooklands 500 Mile Race in 1935 , he retired from racing.

Death at sea

Tim Rose-Richards served as a naval aviator in the Royal Navy during World War II. He was stationed in Lee-on-the-Solent as a member of the 765th Squadron and died on October 7, 1940 in a crash near Anvil Point .
