Jon Arvid Afzelius

Jon Arvid Afzelius , (born August 26, 1856 in Västerås , † October 7, 1918 in Gothenburg ) was a Swedish textbook writer, grandson of Arvid August Afzelius . He was temporarily married to Davida Afzelius-Bohlin.

Life

Afzelius studied in Uppsala , Göttingen and England . In Göttingen he joined the Göttingen Wingolf in 1880 . He then found a job in 1882 at the Göteborgs Handelsinstitut, where he worked as a teacher until his death. Afzelius received an honorary doctorate in philosophy from Gothenburg University in 1916. He published several English language textbooks. Among other things, he developed new methods of phonetic pronunciation.
