Jon Provost (born March 12, 1950 in Los Angeles , California , USA ) is an American actor.

Life

As a child star, Provost appeared in various films from 1953 to 1970. However, his fame brought him his role as the orphan boy Timmy Martin in the third season of the American television series Lassie (1957-1964). For this role he was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1994 at 7080 Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood .

As "Himself" Provost was also seen in the 1965 sitcom with the talking horse Mr. Ed in the episode "Jon Provost Meets Mister Ed" and was also a guest on several television shows at the height of his career.

In 1964, Provost's contract for the Lassie series ran out, and with that, his acting career came to an end. After three movies he was only seen once in an episode of the new edition of the Lassie series, The New Lassie , in a supporting role in 1991 in the episode The Amazing Lassie .

Provost then graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree and worked for a while as a special education teacher . He then worked as a real estate agent in Sonoma County north of San Francisco . In the episode already mentioned in The New Lassie , Provost's character Steve McCullough appeared in the same profession, alongside the former first Lassie master, Tommy Rettig , who revived his role as Jeff Miller .

In recent years Provost has also been a guest at conventions , where he lectured on classic television and American culture. His memoir was published in November 2007 under the title Timmy's in the Well: The Jon Provost Story (Cumberland House Publishing - ISBN 1-58182-619-2 ).
