Jonas (Ethiopia)
Jonas was Negus Negest of Ethiopia from August 18, 1797 to January 4, 1798 .
He was the son of Letezum. According to the traveler Henry Salt , he was one of those emperors who were still alive when he visited northern Ethiopia in 1809/1810.
Jonas was placed on the imperial throne by Ras Israel von Begemder as a representative figure. Gugsa , an Oromo chief from Yejju , later deposed him.
