Jonas Berg (born May 16, 1984 in Helsingborg ) is a former Swedish tennis player .

Career

The son of professional footballer Bengt Berg was Swedish U16 runner-up in doubles in 2000 and Swedish U18 runner-up in singles in 2002. In 2002 he also won the Swedish U18 team championship. After graduating from Filbornaskolan in Helsingborg in 2004, Jonas Berg began studying business administration at Pepperdine University in Malibu in 2005 . After a year he moved to the University of Mississippi , where he graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in 2009 .

Berg participated in ITF Future Tour tournaments between 2002 and 2007 . In 2004 he lost in his first participation in a tournament of the ATP International Series in Båstad against the Serb Boris Pašanski in the first qualifying round. In May 2007 he failed his first appearance at a tournament of the ATP Challenger Series in Tunica on the American Devin Britton in the first qualifying round.

Jonas Berg was part of the Old Mis team in April 2007 , which lost the final of the SEC Men's Tennis Tournament . In 2008 he won the doubles title at the ITA Men's All-American Championships together with Bram ten Berge from the Netherlands . After completing his studies, he moved from the college team in July 2009 to the TC Schwarz-Weiß Neckarau , which at the end of the season was bottom of the table in the 2nd Tennis Bundesliga South and was relegated to the Regionalliga South-West. Jonas Berg was still part of the men's squad there, but in the 2010 season they did not win the championship in eight games.

In addition to his professional activity as a bank clerk, which began in 2010, Jonas Berg is active as a player and trainer at Helsingborgs Tennis Club .
