The ITA Men's All-American Championships are an annual national men's tournament in the field of US college tennis . The equivalent in women's tennis is the ITA Women's All-American Championships . Both tournaments are held separately from each other.

Tournament description

The tournament is organized by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) and always takes place outdoors in September or October of each year. It is the first major tournament in one season. The event location is currently the city of Tulsa in Oklahoma . The resident University of Tulsa acts as the host; The setting is the Case Tennis Center .

history

The first event took place in 1979 when Scott McCain won the individual competition. In 1985 a double competition was introduced, the first edition of which was won by Luke Jensen and Jorge Lozano .

mode

The main field of the individual competition consists of 64 players, including 16 qualifiers, who are determined in a total of seven rounds. There are two qualifying phases, pre-qualifying (four laps) and qualifying (three laps). For players who are eliminated in the first round of the main field, a secondary round ( consolation ) is organized in which another title is awarded.

The main field of the doubles competition consists of only 32 players and there is only one qualification phase with three rounds. Eight qualifiers are determined. As in the individual, there is also a secondary round.
