Jonathan Helton

Jonathan Helton (* 20th century) is an American saxophonist and music teacher .

Live and act

Helton graduated from the North Carolina School of the Art and earned his Masters and PhD degrees from Northwestern University . His main teachers were Frederick Hemke and James Houlik . Two Harriet Hale Woolley Scholarships enabled him to study with Daniel Deffayet at the Conservatoire de Paris and with Jean-Marie Londeix at the Conservatoire National de Région de Bordeaux . He is a professor of saxophone at the University of Florida , a board member of the North American Saxophone Alliance and the Illinois State Music Teachers' Association, and an associate editor of The Saxophone Symposium . Here and in other music journals he published music-analytical writings and reviews; he also wrote a biography of the saxophonist and music teacher Frederick Hemke.

As a saxophonist he has performed with various American symphony orchestras, the United States Navy Band and the Twelfth and Fifteenth World Saxophone Congress Wind Orchestras . a. Paris, Bordeaux, Marseille, London, Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Tokyo, Taipei, Vancouver, Montreal and Calgary, at the World Saxophone Congresses in Bangkok and Montreal, the conference of the World Association of Symphonic Bands and Ensembles (WASBE) and at the 33 . US Navy band International Saxophone Symposium in Washington. He appeared on the radio and recorded CDs for the Centaur , Elf / Ludwig , Innova and Mark Records labels . His recording of Ingolf Dahl's saxophone concerto was nominated for a Grammy .
