Jonathan Elliott

Jonathan Elliott (* 1962 in Philadelphia ) is an American composer and pianist.

Elliott had piano lessons from the age of six. He attended Settlement Music School and then studied composition with Annea Lockwood and piano with Todd Crow at Vassar College . He completed his training at the University of Chicago with Shulamit Ran and Ralph Shapey . He has lived in New York since 1988.

For his compositions Elliott u. a. Awards from the New York State Council on the Arts , the American Composers Forum and Forum 91 of UNESCO, at the Aspen Music Festival and the International Festival for New Music in Darmstadt. He received composition commissions a. a. by Heidi Grant Murphy , Kevin Sharpe , Jonathan Helton , Laura Gilbert and Antigoni Goni and worked on multimedia projects with Lorellen Green , Susan Kouguell and Melissa James Gibson .
