Heidi Grant Murphy

Heidi Grant Murphy (* 1965 in Bellingham , Washington ) is an American opera singer (soprano) and vocal teacher.

Life

Murphy began her musical education at Western Washington University and put them at the Jacobs School of Music of Indiana University continued. During her graduate studies she won the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and was hired by James Levine to participate in the Metropolitan Opera's Lindemann Young Artist Development Program .

In addition to many other roles, she sang Sophie in Der Rosenkavalier , Pamina in Die Zauberflöte , Sister Constance in Dialogues of the Carmelites , Nanetta in Falstaff and Celia in Lucio Silla . In addition to other recordings, she made Clearings in the Sky with compositions by Lili Boulanger , Twilight and Innocence, as well as cantatas by Bach for Arabesque Records, Robert Schumann's Das Paradies und die Peri , Mozart's Idomeneo (Ilia) and Le nozze di Figaro (Barbarina) for Deutsche Grammophon and the grammy- nominated album Sweeney Todd for the New York Philharmonic Orchestra label . She has been teaching at the Jacobs School of Music since 2011, as does her husband, the pianist Kevin Murphy .
