Elliot del Borgo

Elliot A. del Borgo (born October 27, 1938 in Port Chester , New York , † May 30, 2013 in North Port , Florida ) was an American composer , music teacher and trumpeter .

Life

He studied at University College in Potsdam , New York , and received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1960 . He then moved to Temple University , where he graduated in 1962. Another move followed to the Philadelphia Conservatory, where he completed his studies in music theory and composition with Vincent Persichetti and trumpet with Gilbert Johnson .

Del Borgo was a lecturer in trumpet in Philadelphia and Pennsylvania from 1960 to 1965. The Crane School of Music hired him in 1966 as a professor of composition, wind orchestra direction, orchestration, counterpoint, conducting and rehearsal techniques, trumpet, music theory and graphic notation in contemporary Music. This gave him engagements as a speaker and guest conductor at various institutions and orchestras.

In terms of composition he felt obliged to Paul Hindemith and his definition of music for everyday use . Del Borgo's oeuvre encompasses over 600 for almost all genres, where he composed both beginners' literature and very sophisticated and sophisticated literature for professional musicians. He created the music for the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid .
