Player career

The beginnings

Jonathan Sesma started his career as a footballer with CD Corralejo in 1997/98 in the Tercera División . He then moved to FC Universidad Las Palmas in the Segunda División B , where he was able to show his talent for the first time. He scored 13 goals in 41 games. In 1999/2000 Sesma tried to make the way into professional football through the second team of RCD Mallorca . Although he was allowed to play 36 games, he could only score three goals. He then returned to Universidad Las Palmas, where he again proved his qualities as a goalscorer with ten goals in 40 games.

Segunda and Segunda B

After he was able to draw attention to himself again, Jonathan Sesma tried again in 2001/2002 at another club. In the 2nd division at FC Córdoba , however, he only scored a single goal in 13 appearances in the first half of the season. So he went back to Segunda B in the second half of the season , where he played for AD Ceuta , but with only two hits in 13 games had a again weak record for him. Now Sesma is making the third attempt in Las Palmas and this time he finally achieved the breakthrough. With 23 goals in 35 games, he attracted the interest of some first and second division clubs.

The last few years

In the summer of 2003, Jonathan Sesma accepted the offer from second division club Cadiz . With the club he rose to the first division in the 2004/2005 season. After just one season it went back to League 2, but for Jonathan Sesma personally things went very well. He stayed with the Andalusians for another year after relegation and was able to develop steadily. In total, Sesma played 156 first and second division games for Cádiz in four years and scored 39 goals.

In the summer of 2007 he moved to the first division promoted Real Valladolid , where he was also able to earn a regular place. After he was able to secure relegation twice with the club, he rose at the end of the 2009/10 season in the Segunda División . He left the club and moved to Cordoba FC .
