Mäki won the bronze medal in the sprint at the 2014 Junior World Championships in Fiemme Valley . A month later he made his debut in the World Cup in Lahti , where he reached 94th place in the sprint and 89th place in the 15 km freestyle. At his next World Cup competition in November 2014 in Ruka , Mäki was 61st in the sprint. In January 2015 he started in Falun for the first time in the Scandinavian Cup , where he finished 97th in the 15 km freestyle and 28th in the sprint. In March 2015, Mäki competed in the World Cup sprint in Lahti, which he finished in 58th place. At the Scandinavian Cup sprint in Östersund in January 2016, Mäki finished third on the podium. In the 2018/19 season he finished ten times in the points and at the World Cup finals in Québec on 36th place and at the end of the season he reached 44th place in the overall World Cup and 19th place in the Sprint World Cup. At the season highlight, the Nordic World Ski Championships 2019 in Seefeld in Tirol , he finished 52nd over 15 km classic and 13th place in the sprint. In the 2019/20 season he achieved third place in the team sprint together with Ristomatti Hakola in Planica and became Finnish sprint champion in Voyri .
