The Jonquil ( Narcissus jonquilla ) is a species in the genus of daffodils ( Narcissus ) from the family of Amaryllidaceae family (Amaryllidaceae). This species is placed in the Jonquillae section by the botanist John W. Blanchard .
description
The jonquille is a slender daffodil that reaches heights of up to 40 centimeters and thus has one of the longest inflorescence shafts among the daffodil species. Their leaves are narrow, almost stalk-round and rush-like and medium green.
The flower is uniformly golden yellow, fragrant and has a diameter of up to 3 centimeters. The main corolla are pointed, the secondary corolla is only 4 millimeters high, but 1 centimeter wide.
distribution
The species was originally only distributed on the Iberian Peninsula. However, it came into gardening relatively early. As a garden refugee , it has run wild and forms wild populations in southern France, Italy and Dalmatia.
