Jorge Meléndez nom de guerre Comandante Jonás (born December 15, 1953 ) is a politician in El Salvador .

Life

In 1975, Jorge Meléndez was a member of the Comandancia des Ejercito Revolucionario del Pueblo , a Christian Democrat- oriented society for false flag operations . In June 2009, Jorge Barahona resigned as Director of the Civil Protection Department El Salvador in the presidency of Mauricio Funes , whereupon he appointed Funes Meléndez to this office.

The relatives of Roque Dalton are calling for Meléndez to be dismissed as head of civil defense, accusing him of:

  1. that he refuses to acknowledge his intellectual and actual involvement in the murder of Roque Dalton and Armando Arteaga , thereby calling into question his civil character, his self-image, his sense of justice, his truthfulness and his courage to admit the truth.
  2. that he, with Villalobos, is responsible for the kidnapping and disappearance of the bodies of the victims and for hiding the truth from the relatives and the Salvadoran people.
  3. that he had carried out a smear campaign with Villalobos, in particular against the person and honor of Roque Dalton, in order to hide the vicious and treacherous nature of the premeditated murder.
