Jorge Melício
Jorge Melício (born March 20, 1957 in Lobito , Angola ) is a Portuguese sculptor and artist .
Life
Melício has lived in Lisbon since he was seven . He attended the Escola de Artes Decorativas António Arroio and the Escola Superior de Belas-Artes de Lisboa . In the 1970s he created clay and stone sculptures in the Freguesia Pêro Pinheiro. His works of art are in the holdings of many museums and private collections. In the Café A Brasileira a painting hanging from it. His sculptures in public spaces can be found in many places in Portugal. Examples of this are the figure group A Família in the Jardim Fernando Pessoa near the city council of Lisbon and the ceramic monument about the life and work of Queen Elisabeth of Portugal at the location of the Caixa Geral de Depósitos in Lisbon. Melício was chosen by the administration of the Metropolitano de Lisboa for the artistic beautification of one of their train stations.
