Jorge Rafael Posada Villeta (* 17th August 1970 in Santurce , Puerto Rico ) is a former baseball player of the Major League Baseball (MLB) from Puerto Rico.
Life
Posada made his debut in the major league team of the New York Yankees on September 4, 1995. For a long time, the catcher was only the second choice in his position with the Yankees. With the move from Joe Girardi to the Chicago Cubs , Posada became a regular and his performance rose to the statistical values that the Yankees expected of him. He and his team won the World Series four times and the American League title five times . Between 2000 and 2003 he was elected to the American League's All-Star Team four times in a row . On January 24, 2012, he announced the end of his career.

His son Jorge Jr. has craniosynostosis . His father and his wife founded the Jorge Posada Foundation, which financially supports children with craniosynostosis and research into this disease. Orange County Choppers motorcycle company built a New York Yankees- themed chopper with all players' signatures on the tank for a charity event organized by the foundation . The bike raised $ 150,000 at auction.
Oddities
In his position as catcher, he gave the pitcher hand signals as to how and where the next throw should be made. So that the pitcher could better recognize these hand signals, Posada painted the nails of his right hand white before each game.
