The 2000 World Series was the 96th edition of the finals of Major League Baseball between New York city rivals New York Yankees from the American League and the New York Mets from the National League .

The series started on October 21, 2000 and ended on October 26, 2000. The winner of the "Best of Seven" series was the New York Yankees, who won games 1, 2, 4 and 5. The Mets could only win Game 3. By winning, the Yankees won their 26th overall win and the third World Series in a row. The series was the first so-called " Subway Series " (underground series) in the play-offs since 1956.

As MVP of the World Series was Derek Jeter excellent.
