The American League and National League winners were determined between October 12 and 20, 2018. The three division winners and the winner of the wild card game met in two division series matches in best-of-five mode ( ALDS or NLDS = American or National League Division Series). Then the winners of the Division Series matches played the best-of-seven from the respective league champion ( ALCS or NLCS = American or National League Championship Series ).
