ALCS 2017 NLCS 2017

In the 2017 World Series , from October 24 to November 1, the winner of the North American Major League Baseball was determined for the 113th time . The best-of-seven series is traditionally played between the winner of the American League and the champion of the National League . It was the first time since 1970 that two MLB teams met with more than 100 wins in the regular season. This was also the first "Cal-Tex Series" between teams from California and Texas after 2010 .

The Houston Astros , successful in the end with 4 to 3 wins , was proven in investigations in 2019 to have systematically spied out the signs of the opposing catchers in the 2017 season . Due to this so-called sign-stealing scandal, many demanded that the title be withdrawn, as it was won by unfair means. The MLB refused this.

The American League and National League winners were determined between October 3 and October 21, 2017. The three division winners and the winner of the wild card game met in two division series matches in best-of-five mode ( ALDS or NLDS = American or National League Division Series). Then the winners of the Division Series matches played the best-of-seven from the respective league champion ( ALCS or NLCS = American or National League Championship Series ).

In contrast to previous seasons, the privilege of a fourth home game goes to the MLB team that has the better result from the regular season. This year that team will be the Los Angeles Dodgers .
