In the 1995 World Series , the winner of Major League Baseball was determined for the 91st time . As champions of the American League , the Cleveland Indians faced the Atlanta Braves as champions of the National League .
The Braves beat the Indians 4-2 in six games, earning their first title since moving from Milwaukee to Atlanta in 1966 (after two final defeats in 1991 and 1992). It was the third title overall for the franchise (as the Boston Braves in 1914 and Milwaukee Braves in 1957).
The series started on October 21, 1995 and ended on October 28, 1995. The MVP of the World Series was awarded to Braves pitcher Tom Glavine , who achieved two wins in two starts .
The strike of the players last year, which u. a. led to the failure of the World Series, also had an impact on the 1995 season. Since many players did not train regularly at their clubs, the season started three weeks late, so that only 144 (instead of the usual 162) games per team were played .
