The 1980 World Series was the final of Major League Baseball in 1980. The series started on October 14, 1980 and ended on October 21, 1980. It was the champion of the American League , the Kansas City Royals , and the champion of the National League , the Philadelphia Phillies . The Philadelphia Phillies won the "Best of Seven" series with 4-2 victories. For the Phillies, it was the first (and up to the 2008 season only) World Series win in the history of the franchise .

As MVP of the World Series was Mike Schmidt excellent.
