The 2005 World Series was the 101st edition of the Major League Baseball finals . The series started on October 22, 2005 and ended on October 26, 2005. It faced the champions of the American League , the Chicago White Sox , and the champion of the National League , the Houston Astros . The Chicago White Sox won the "Best of Seven" series with a sweep that was unusual for a World Series . The White Sox won four games in a row and clearly beat the Astros 4-0.

It was the third title in the history of the Chicago White Sox and the first success since 1917.

For MVP of the World Series was Jermaine Dye selected.
