The 1987 World Series was the 84th edition of the finals of Major League Baseball . The American League champions , the Minnesota Twins , defeated the National League champions , the St. Louis Cardinals , 4-3 games. The Best-Of-Seven series started on October 17 and ended on October 25, 1987 and went over the full number of games.
For the first time in the history of the World Series , all seven games could be won by the respective home team. This constellation occurred again in 1991 and 2001 .
As MVP of the series Minnesota was pitcher Frank Viola excellent.
