The 1906 World Series was the third edition of the World Series , the finals of Major League Baseball (MLB). They were played from October 9 to October 14, 1906 between the American League winner , the Chicago White Sox, and the National League winner , the Chicago Cubs. The Cubs had set a record of 116 wins and a win rate of 76.3% in the regular season, which was valid until 2000, and were favorites in this World Series. The White Sox, on the other hand, had the worst batting average in the American League (23%), nicknamed "Hitless Wonders". This World Series was also the first modern World Series in which two teams from the same city (see: Subway Series ) competed against each other.

- In the 1906 World Series both the Chicago White Sox and the Chicago Cubs came for the first time in club history.
- Two participants in the 1906 World Series were later inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame : Mordecai Brown of the Chicago Cubs and Ed Walsh of the Chicago White Sox.
- Games 1 and 2 were played in snow. This didn't happen again until the 1997 World Series .
